Getting to Know your Grill!

Cleaning Tolls You May (will) Need:

After Every Use:

  1. Clean the Grates:

    • While the grates are still warm, use a grill brush or scraper to remove food particles and grease.

    • For stubborn residue, use a mixture of water and vinegar or grill cleaner.

  2. Empty the Grease Trap:

    • Dispose of the grease to prevent buildup and potential fires.

  3. Wipe Down the Exterior:

    • Use a damp cloth with mild soap to remove dirt, dust, or grease from the grill's surface.

    • Avoid abrasive cleaners that might damage finishes.

      Cleaning Solutions

Weekly or Monthly Maintenance:

  1. Deep Clean the Grates:

    • Soak grates in warm, soapy water, then scrub thoroughly.

    • Rinse and dry completely to avoid rust.

  2. Inspect the Burners (Gas Grills):

    • Check for clogs or blockages. Clean burner holes with a wire or pipe cleaner if necessary.

    • Ensure burners are aligned and functioning properly.

  3. Charcoal Grill Ash Removal:

    • Empty all ash and debris from the base after every few uses.

    • Use a vacuum or small brush for thorough cleaning.

Seasonal Maintenance (Every 2-3 Months or at Season Start/End):

  1. Disassemble and Deep Clean:

    • Remove all removable parts (grates, burners, flame tamers, etc.).

    • Wash them in warm, soapy water, and thoroughly dry.

  2. Check for Rust and Wear:

    • Inspect for rust or damage on grates, burners, and the body.

    • Apply a food-safe, high-heat grill oil to grates to prevent rust.

  3. Clean the Interior:

    • Scrape off carbonized grease or residue from the interior walls.

    • Wipe down with soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

  4. Inspect Gas Connections:

    • Check hoses for cracks or leaks. Use soapy water to identify leaks (bubbles indicate gas escaping).

  5. Replace Worn Parts:

    • Replace damaged grates, burners, or igniters.

Tips for Long-Term Care:

  • Cover Your Grill: Use a weatherproof cover when the grill is not in use to protect it from elements.

  • Store Properly: During the offseason, store your grill in a dry area or garage if possible.

  • Oil Your Grates: Lightly oil the grates before grilling to prevent food from sticking and to protect against rust.

In Summary:

With consistent care, your grill will remain in excellent condition for years to come!
