Best Hamburger Ever!
Pops Monster Burgers
These burgers are the best anytime of the year, but especially great during the summertime when entertaining friends and family. Easy to make, and with all the right ingredients that are easy to find. Add your own delicious toppings and spices to make this the best "Monster" burger you've ever had.
Steps
  • In a large bowl add the beef, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and salt. Using your hands mix the ingredients until combined.

  • While still in the bowl, divide the mixture in six equal servings.  Using your hands, roll each portion into a ball and then press into a hamburger patty about ¾ inch thick and slightly larger than the English Muffins.   It’s important to make a slight indentation using your fingers at the center of each burger, pushing the extra meat towards the edges. As a rule the outer sides should be about ¼ inch higher than the center.  (this will help keep the patty from shrinking during cooking)

  • Peel the outer skin of the red onion off and cut six equal sized slices.

  • Slice six pieces of Pork Roll at about ⅛ of an inch thick, or to your desired thickness.

  • Slice six pieces of a fresh tomato,  and prepare a plate of crispy lettuce.

  • Split your English Muffins, do not use a knife - this cuts away the delicious “Nooks and Crannies” texture. Find a crease on the side and gentle squeeze the muffin edges until the sides separate.

How to make

Pre Heat  Grill to about 375 degrees.

Place your burgers on the grill and cook for 3 -5 minutes per side or until the burgers have reached your desired doneness.

USDA temperature guidelines are:

  • Well Done: 160°F to 165°F – It’s very tough and usually dry. If you use store-bought ground beef, you have to cook it to this temperature, or you can pasteurize it at 140°F for at least 12 minutes.

  • Medium Well: 150°F to 155°F – This burger will have a small amount of pink in the very center, but the outsides will have started to dry out.

  • Medium: 140°F to 145°F – Slight pink throughout the inside of the burger.

  • Medium Rare: 130°F to 135°F – If proper precautions are taken, you can cook and eat at this temperature.

  • Rare: 120°F to 125°F – You should never cook and eat a burger at this temperature for safety reasons.

Flip your burger once at around the 4 minute mark, do not press down on the patty as this will release all the flavoring juices.

Place the English muffins on the grill at this time and toast each side until desired brownness.  An alternative to the grill is using a toaster, but you can usually only toast one muffin at a time.  When done place the muffins on a platter.

When you’re about 2 minutes from removing the patties, place the Pork Roll on the grill, flipping once and cooking for about a minute per side.

When you're about a minute from removing the patties, place the American cheese on each burger.

Remove the burgers and place each on a toasted English Muffin. remove the Pork Roll slices from the grill and place one on each burger.  Let them rest for about a minute or two.

Dressing the Burgers:

  • On the bottom slice of the English Muffin spread a tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing.

  • On the top of your burger place the Red Onion slice along with the lettuce, tomato and ketchup.

Serve and Enjoy!

Notes:

Enjoy the best burgers!
